有指 Nolan大師原本想搵愛將，「蝙蝠俠」 Christian Bale演男主角 Will一角，但當時 Christian因拍緊《騙海豪情》而且谷到個 body肥晒，外形完全唔切合戲中醒目又有型的 Will，最後由導演 Wally推薦後，終於搵咗尊尼特普，二人見面一拍即合。

有「怪雞小生」之稱的尊尼特普（ Johnny Depp），一向喜好另類，愈騎呢角色愈演得入型入格。
不過做得騎呢角色多，觀眾唔厭，入行 30年的尊尼哥自己都厭。新作《超越潛能》（ Transcendence）中，尊尼終於反樸歸真，唔畫眼線，唔畫大花面，戴上眼鏡扮科學家。今次仲撇甩老拍檔添布頓，轉地頭跟《潛行凶間》大師 Christopher Nolan合作，拍主流科幻驚慄片，演繹一個為續命而把意識植入電腦的科學家故事。
