荒廢許久的嘉義縣中埔鄉同仁天主堂，因年久失修、損壞嚴重，牆壁龜裂屋頂漏水，早已不堪使用。台灣寶島行善義工團在小英教育基金會贊助下，號召全台上百名義工，花了兩個周末和周日修繕，不但做了屋頂防水工程，也重漆牆壁，另改建倉庫做無障礙廁所，整個天主堂除保有原來的鋼骨結構外，整棟建築物全面翻修，煥然一新。

簡潔漂亮的同仁村天主教堂今成為台3線新亮點，將於明天上午舉辦贈鑰儀式，安道（原「敏道」）基金會執行長鄒輝堂表示，同仁村天主堂將做為社區老人、弱勢家庭兒童、身心障礙等服務據點。
