請問 Eee PC S101 的 SSD 掛了之後建議的作業系統與開機方式？

上網查了一下，這台的 SSD 不太好換，所以目前是這麼打算的：

1. 把系統安裝在 SD 卡，直接從內建的 SD 卡讀卡機開機
2. 把系統安裝在 USB 隨身碟／外接硬碟，從 USB 裝置開機

實際試了以 WIMBoot + VHDX 來安裝 Windows 8.1 with Update，
我是將 vhdx 與 wim 檔放在 SD 卡 (32GB / NTFS) 底下來啟動，
但系統使用起來很慢，使用的 SD 卡是 SanDisk Ultra C6 30MB/s，
不知道是不是 SD 卡本身太慢的關係？還是不該使用 WIMBoot？

除了安裝「完整的」作業系統，也有想過使用所謂的 RAMOS，
不過 Google 了一下網路上的介紹與教學，感覺製作起來不算簡單。
不知道板上有沒有 Eee PC S101 的 SSD 也已經掛了的朋友？

假如沒有一定要使用 Windows 的話，有沒有可以在開完機之後，
全部在 RAM 裡面跑但依然可以保存個人化設定的 Linux 系統？
這樣就算 SD 卡讀寫速度不快，也只會影響到開機與保存的過程。
